@mephistopholian: One of the best performances from round 1 in my opinion. Bar any accident from happening, I think we'll definitely see her in the finals! #chopincompetition #chopin #classicalmusic #classicalpiano #piano #classical #fyp #foryou #foryoupage
People who criticize, yet forget that she’s at a literal Chopin competition. If she moved to the next round, then chances are she’s good. Those who criticize just wish they were as good as her

I get the technic but she plays too fast. Espacially the Polonaise in the II round.

Elastic, smoky, tough as boot leather, a svelte but persnickety thrashing out of Chopin’s precarious farrago of misgivings. Perfused with rustic cosmopolitanism, and an audaciously clinical coquettishness that churns dutifully towards deliquescence in every sense but the obvious, the performance nevertheless forefends regret, like the unsentimental matron of a Swabian bawdyhouse. Brazen and unaccountable—likewise in her subtle brusqueness as in her diabolical naïveté—Kuwahara chugs along insouciantly, like a master cobbler deftly hobnailing an easy chopine. But is it beau geste or just jest? Who’s to say? What’s certain is that Kuwahara reliably delivers an unrelenting barrage of pleasant surprises that breathe an almost effervescent giddiness into this haggard workhorse of a piece, tying it all up with a bow so beguiling the listener dances willingly into her noose and—before anyone can stop it—kicks away the stool.
