Massachusetts: Mohawk trail and shelburne falls! Unfortunately: Northern Vermont, the White Mountains in NH, and interior Maine are what I’d say past peak. Many parts of Maine are showing 50–70 % change, with the far north hitting 70–100 %. But heads up — drought stress means some patches might be muted or drop leaves early. Southern New England (Mass., CT, RI) is trailing — peak will hit mid- to late October in many spots. Top spots (typically but many are past peak) Kancamagus Highway, NH — classic sweeping views + elevation shift Franconia Notch, NH — rugged mountain valleys & leaf tunnels Vermont’s Route 100 & Smugglers’ Notch — rolling hills + scenic byways Northeast Kingdom, VT — remote & vibrant foliage Interior mountain roads in Maine — less traffic, more reward CT’s Route 169 “Quiet Corner” — underrated but charming drive 📹 Pro tip: film during golden hour (sunrise or sunset) — reds & golds really pop.
