@leah.eveee: i once was told that i “was just a girl, who’s dreams exceeded her abilities.” that i “would be nothing and mean nothing” without a man. that my “degree was useless” and i “would never amount to anything more than a dumb blonde”. those words rang in my head every test i didn’t want to study for, every class i almost skipped, every assignment i didn’t want to do. they rang in my head every single day for years and they pushed me to overacheive and strive for greatness every single day. i graduated on the deans list with my AS, AA and BS in marine science, all at once. and when i walked across that stage and accepted my diploma, i could only think: “who means nothing now?” although those words cut me deep, and forever will, i wouldn’t change a thing. it pushed me, it challenged me,they changed me. to that boy at 19: i owe you a thank you, for destroying me so badly i had no choice but to put myself back together. for little leah, for past me, for present and future me.
