If the range is listed, but it is a range of 70x-110x, Is it safe to land somewhere in the midpoint even if it is 30 to 40% above your current salary.

In Canada starting in 2026 job postings must include the pay range. A lot of banks and many companies are doing this now. It’s extremely helpful when applying the dance still happens when the range is not posted during an interview. I believe this is a rule in the UK as well.

Ive found that being knowledgeable about the salary range, and being honest and realistic about where I fit into that range. I have always either landed a bit more or saved the recruiter and myself wasted time.

If the law doesn’t do its job to make these companies say their price like the law did with products at a supermarket then we should try solidarity between us workers and just keep a standard of not contributing to these games. If a company doesn’t say what they pay then there will be no one to recruit
