Can you teach how to meet our own emotional needs for connection when you’re more awake than the people around you and connection feels shallow? How do you meet that on your own?

so basically I resent my ex for wasting 5 years of my life as he didn't get help and fix his demons. so what you're saying is the resentment is my fault because I should've set boundaries and left years before when he ignored them 🤔

I’ve struggled with this for years and felt terrible guilt about it because I DO believe in self accountability. I never thought to consider my problem this way! It’s tough when you love someone with problems and then resent them for having them. This was really useful, thank you. And yeah, people pleaser…..

You had me until «focus on what your partner does». What If the partner disrespects you and steps on your boundaries? Direct the resentment inward for staying and giving too many chances?

Brene Brown says resentment is in the emotional wheel house of envy. Not anger, and jealousy is different than envy. Her book “Atlas of the Heart” breaks it all down. 🙏

Love how you described this. It's so clear with the diagram. And this is such a typical thing with "nice guys".. and being in a state like this builds sooo much tension in the body, eventually leading to neck pain, headaches, jaw clenching, etc. In the, we make ourselves not only suffer emotionally, but physically too.

Omg, you’re right. I’m actually mad at myself for not doing what I need to do. Sometimes I just don’t know how to say what I want without sounding completely rude and mean. So I say nothing.

It makes total sense. I am whirling around right now. My ADHD and sense of self acknowledgement is having trouble taking all of this in. I feel anxious, and have to replay 100+ times to understand. omg this is so effin good!!!!

I absolutely agree that resentment is toxic as I used to be an echoist and I understand how dangerous it can be. I’ve done a lot of work on that. But for the love of the big guy in the sky, telling those to forgive those who purposely harmed them is just as dangerous to do. You can definitely move on without having to forgive. It’s called just not caring. I’m not saying you did this. It’s just I’m so sick of everyone preaching forgiveness.

Ok so how do we handle someone who resents us for things that they are jealous and angry about?
