The brother NQ1700e is a better choice has an embroidery area of 6x10, and the best brand for thread is isacord, brotheead has not the best quality.

I just started on the brother se700, never sewed before and trying to learn embroidery but my fabric keeps shifting and the top thread is bunching up and nesting underneath. At random points in the design. I use 2 layers of tear away and fabric. A 75/11 needle and has tried adjusting the tension anywhere between 4-5. So far nothing has been consistent. Do you have any advice??

Just to clarify on the thread. You want a heavier thread… smaller number for the bobbin than what you use up top. Correct?

I didn’t even think about different needles! I’ve just been using the same ones that came with my machine. Also the bobbin weight! Never knew!
