@opal: EYES UP, NYC. The Scrolling Kills billboard is LIVE. It began in 2022 with a simple thought: phones should carry warning labels like cigarette packs. We printed "Scrolling Kills" stickers and put them on our own devices. People responded strongly, leading to meaningful conversations, so we hand-mailed thousands to Opal users worldwide. In 2024, the U.S. Surgeon General warned that social media can harm mental health, a reminder of those tobacco warnings. This inspired us to continue: we brought LED trucks with the message to NY and SF, shared t-shirts and stickers, and saw the idea gain attention. Now, with this billboard, we're amplifying the message to encourage real-life connections.
