As someone who has played MTG for over 20 years. I'm all for it. Some of the UB stuff I have liked and some I haven't. The goal should be to get more people to play MTG. So if UB brings in more players then great! People can choose not to buy the sets. I personally want a Bioshock/MTG crossover. Then WOTC will have all my money.

I’m a new player. Only been into it for a couple months. And even I see the problem with universes beyond. Colabs are cool but they shouldn’t be the majority. The MTG story and world are cool

I’ve been hearing about magic for years. I never wanted to take the dive, because I didn’t resonate with a lot of the characters on the cards. Because of the Final Fantasy set, I’m now in love with this game and buying older cards. I don’t see how this isn’t a win .

carefully curated UB sets is the way to go. They are a fun treat but shouldn't be the focus. Not every UB should be a full set. Dnd and final fantasy did well. I liked Warhammer because it was only commander. Pumping each UB as a full set is way overkill and ruins that special feeling of it being UB. Just feels like we lost a actual magic set.

I think UB should've stayed as reprints. no different to custom altars. but the mechanically unique stuff is where the problem is, especially through secret lairs.

I mean everyone liked FF because it was a good set. its easy to complain about UB after spiderman in the same way that everyone complained about "hat sets" after aetherdrift.

I like UB but its gotten way too out of hand. In my eyes UB should be at maximum 1-2 times per year, UB being over half of next years sets is a giant slap in the face for people who enjoy magics lore and in universe sets

Universes Beyond is a cash grab system to get the COLLECTORS of these IPs to buy the high priced singles new players are inconsequential now and more of a bonus than the focus

UB should have been the summer set each year. Especially if they're supposed to be standard legal. Everything being legal in every format is also bad because the meta never digests. Card pool knowledge also becomes an unreasonable expectation

I love UB, so many sets have really hit it out of the park, like LoTR and FF. But the identity of magic does get greatly diluted by the quantity pushing out base sets and when bad UB sets release it feels like it wasted what could be a good in universe set instead

Same as any other media; it’s not for me but other people can enjoy whatever they want. I think a lot of the UB cards are generally overpowered but I’m a strictly casual player so it doesn’t bother me like it would if I played in tournaments or anything

I got into because the final fantasy collab and cloud is my boi, but the issue I have with it is I couldn’t go into the store to get anything because every time i did the stock was wiped out. So I had to buy some at scalper prices which sucked.

universes beyond isn't the main problem, it's the fact that we're getting too many sets. where getting loryn and TMNT spoilers before avatar has even come out. at this rate where going to get sets spolied a year in advance

While the UB sets bring people in and some of them are absolutely awesome, they shouldn't take the majority of sets in a year 😭

I see both sides. I feel this way about some of my own hobbies but I also feel like keeping the community growing is key. when it comes to MTG specifically, I kept trying to get involved but I found the community kind of intimidating and occasionally elitist (which you get everywhere) but the UB sets (Final Fantasy and Assassin's Creed) actually got me to start playing regularly with friends with Commander format. so while I understand and sympathize with the old guards feeling like their franchise has lost their hearts over corporate greedy crossovers, I have to be grateful that it got me to fall back in love with ripping packs and playing TCGs with new friends.

Honestly I have more of a problem with Sexret Lairs than UB sets. Granted, I feel UB sets should also be limited to 1-2 a year.
