@daywithshea: Finding an apartment in Italy can be so tough! But here’s my experience and some tips for you when searching. These tips are for people looking for long-term apartments, not single rooms or shared places. If you’re looking for an apartment, I recommend the websites immobiliare and idealista. Here you can search for rentals and set filters to meet exactly what you’re looking for. You NEED TO CALL the number listed on the apartment listing. Italian agents or private sellers typically do not check or respond to your messages, unless the listing specifically tells you to email them with specific information. So it’s usually best to call and try to set up and appointment to view the apartment. You have to act fast. In many cities, places get snatched up really quick. In Bologna for example, a listing usually never stays up for more than a day or two. If you like an apartment, tell the agent right away and send over any information needed to show your interest ASAP. Another thing to note is many apartments already come furnished! So if you aren’t looking for an empty apartment to fill up with your own furniture, there are actually plenty of places that already have basic furniture and necessities, it’s pretty common in Italy.
