✨️GARY MOORE✨️ Remembering Gary Moore passed away 14yrs ago On This Day 6 February 2011 Moore passed away at age of 58 While on holiday with his girlfriend Petra Nioduschewski Andalusia, Spain Moore was buried in a private ceremony St Margaret's Churchyard in Rottingdean in Brighton Family and close friends His eldest son Jack and his uncle Cliff performed the Irish ballad ‘Danny Boy’ at his funeral ✨️Early life✨️ Robert William Gary Moore born in Belfast 4 April 1952 He sang "Sugartime" after father invited him onstage to sing with a showband It first sparked his interest in music he credits his father with starting him in music by giving him the opportunity to perform He bought his son his first guitar a second-hand Framus acoustic when Moore was 10 Though left-handed learned to play right-handed Not long after he formed his first band The Beat Boys mainly performed Beatles He later joined Platform Three and The Method amongst others Around this time he befriended Rory Gallagher who often performed at the same venues He left Belfast for Dublin in 1968 just as The Troubles were beginning ✨️Career✨️ Influenced by Peter Green Moore first heard Green play with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers Describing the show Moore said "It was an amazing experience just to hear a guitarist walk on stage plug into this amp I thought was a pile of sh get this incredible sound He was absolutely fantastic everything about him was so graceful" Moore eventually met Green January 1970 Skid Row toured with Fleetwood Mac The two became friends Green later sold his 1959 Gibson Les Paul to Moore Eric Clapton he first heard John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers album Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton A life-changing experience "Within two seconds of the opening track I was blown away The guitar sound itself so different You could hear the blues in it, but prior to that all the guitar you heard in rock (well pop music) Other early influences; Jeff Beck George Harrison Jimi Hendrix Hank Marvin John Mayall Mick Taylor He also cited Albert King B.B. King as being influential to his performances Moore began his career in the late 1960s when he joined Skid Row released two albums After Moore left he joined Thin Lizzy feat his former Skid Row bandmate frequent collaborator Phil Lynott (1986) Moore began his solo career in the 1970s achieved major success with "Parisienne Walkways" 6 April 1979 Back on the Streets (first album) considered his signature song During the 1980s he transitioned into playing hard rock and heavy metal with varying degrees of international success In 1990 he returned to his roots with Still Got the Blues eighth solo studio (26 March 1990) collaborating with Albert King Albert Collins George Harrison most successful album of his career Moore continued to release new music throughout his later career collaborating with other artists from time to time 1993 to 1994 short-lived power trio BBM ("Baker Bruce Moore") featured Jack Bruce Ginger Baker After just one album and a European tour the trio disbanded Moore often described Moore played with many more artists including Dr. Strangely Strange Andrew Lloyd Webber Rod Argent Gary Boyle B.B.
