"WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT DRINKING ALCOHOL? IS DRINKING A SIN? WHAT EXACTLY DOES THE BIBLE SAY? You may be surprised by the answer. Let us take a look together. As Christians, we often think carefully about the choices we make in life: what is right, and what is wrong? One common question is about alcohol. Does the Bible say that drinking alcohol is a sin? Let us take a closer look. 1️⃣ The issue is not wine itself, but drunkenness. The Bible never says that alcohol itself is a sin, but it clearly warns people not to get drunk. Ephesians 5:18 says: “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;” The key here is self-control. The Bible is not against “drinking alcohol” itself, but it reminds us to stay in control of ourselves and not be controlled by alcohol. 2️⃣ The danger lies in losing self-control. When we drink to the point of losing reason and control, that is where the Bible draws the line. Proverbs 20:1 warns: “Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.” Alcohol can affect a person’s judgement, which is why the Bible tells us to be cautious. 3️⃣ Jesus also drank wine, but He never misused it. Yes, Jesus drank wine while He was on earth. He even turned water into wine at a wedding feast (John 2:1–11). But His actions show us that the key is balance, and not allowing anything to control our lives. Jesus gave us an example of wisdom and self-control. 4️⃣ Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:19 reminds us: “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?” We are called to glorify God with our bodies. Drinking in moderation may not be a sin. But abusing alcohol and allowing it to control us is destroying the “temple” that God has given us. If drinking alcohol draws you away from God, harms your body, or damages your relationships with others, then it is time to re-examine your choice. In all things, ask God to give you wisdom. The Bible does not ban alcohol, but it does forbid indulgence, drunkenness, and loss of control. The real focus is not simply “whether you drink or not”, but whether you allow the Holy Spirit to govern your heart and your actions. If your heart longs to draw near to God and understand His will, then do not delay. "#fyp #jesus #prayer #grace #Amen🙏
