wait oh my god i love this theory! i feel like i took this book very literally when i read it, but i thought the themes of grief and attachment it explored were done well. definitely the type of book that leaves you wondering.

I always thought that Leah was kind of the embodiment of miri's grief, and when in the end she gives her back to the ocean it symbolise the acceptance of her wife death, but i really love your take

Thanks for this! It makes me appreciate it a lot more. Glad this is the video I came across to help process it. Because I felt like it ended as a normal level of weird for someone who reads weird books. But this frames it as… the appropriate type of weird if that makes sense 😅
