@thefeministvocologist: Do you cough and clear your throat a lot? You may have a condition called “neurolaryngeal hypersensitivity”- also called neurogenic cough and irritable larynx syndrome (ILS). Stopping this cycle of behavior is important for the health of your larynx and vocal folds. #chroniccough #vocalhealth #neurolaryngealhypersensitivity #voiceproblems #singersoftiktok

As a child i used to cough and cough everyday for years and have so much snot and I got cramps in my stomach bc it wouldnt stop but idk what that was like i was at the doctor and didnt understand but my mom said i was fine and its just a virus or sum (idk really i dont remember) and i removed polyps or whatever they are called and i couldnt breathe out of my nose. Now im fine and teached myself to breathe through my nose so now i only do that but I alllwwaayyss have stuff in my throat that I have to cough up and sometimes it’s slime and it’s soooo annoying bc when I speak my voice is bad so i have to cough it up. And it’s been like this for years. I also get runny nose all the time especially with temperature changes or if i go for a walk. It’s just annoying and idk what it is. Idrc about the runny nose part but the thing the stuff with my throat is just really annoying and it sounds like ive got asma (i probably dont but it’s just what it sounds like) and I just want it to go awaayyy but idk howw bc idk what it is

I have Cough-predominant allergic asthma with marked irritant (fragrance/VOC) sensitivity and prominent upper airway (laryngeal) hyperreactivity, resulting in episodic respiratory exacerbations triggered by airborne chemical exposures. But the laryngeal issues have just been suggested despite this being the main trigger for so long. I’m a music teacher.

I have been doing this for 12+ years. It is miserable. I have seen an allergist regularly, no medications for allergies and asthma help. I have seen an ENT but got no help there. No one seems to know how to help me. 😢

Yessssss my husband has had a dry tickle cough for over a year. He’s seen an ENT, done the scans, a pulmonologist, and our family doctor and has no relief!!! They thought maybe reflux or allergies but it’s not. We feel so defeated and just want help for it to stop for him. :(
