@jonjon.jpeg: We focus too much on blame; the driver, the delivery truck, or the kid crossing the street. But we can design intersections so that even if any or all make a mistake, tragedies are far less likely. #carculture #urbandesign #streetdesign #pedestrian
You don't *EVER* blame the kid! Vehicle operators are always to blame.

The only problem I see with this is that you're presenting it to the wrong people. Take it to the people who can make the decision to change it

nothing worse than peeking out around a truck and seeing a car coming at 45 miles an hour

Lives could be saved SO easily. It’s frustrating that we can’t even just do the low effort tasks to make millions of lives better.

I thought colorful crosswalks were a danger because they distract drivers. At least that’s what my govern desantis says when he ripped up the Pulse memorial

I know an intersection that would benefit immensely from this. What can I as a normal citizen do? Who do I advocate to?

The colours and bollards are also traffic calming. Reduced speed = less likely a chance of serious injury if something were to happen

My city would rather employ speed cameras instead of designing actually safe roads

LOVE your content. I never knew I had such an interest in urban infrastructure. I don't even live in a city 😂

We have one of those corners near my office. They painted a cool mural on the ground so people are less likely to park there as well (ours doesn’t have any posts).

Especially with all these jacked-up cars and SUVs daylighting is essential; it’s so much harder to see around them as a pedestrian, cyclist, OR driver.

As a side note, painting the street a different color than the sidewalk where you would typically step down is really great for people with low vision!

Even if I had never encountered an intersection like that, the colors alone would cause me as a driver to slow down.. cause it’s cool and different!

are you allowed to stop/park so close to the intersection? in europe theres a minimum of 15 meters to the corner of the intersection where you're not allowed to park

So how is that different from a crosswalk? My suggestion is to use crosswalks and only start walking when you make eye contact with the driver…Even with all the colors, if no one is paying attention, it doesnt matter.

Our city just necked down a wide corner near our playground and added bike lanes and I was like yessss, Jon Jon’s gonna love this. Traffic has immediately slowed down.
