Do you work? Could that not help battle that lonely feeling, even part time a couple of days a week?

Thank you so much for sharing 🥰it’s very hard moving to a remote place when you’ve growing up in a town / city, and even more harder when you’re away from your friends and family. Really appreciate you sharing this as it’s def something overlooked and not highlighted enough for farmers wives / partners x

My husband is a beef farmer works 16 hour days 6 days a week and takes 4/5 hours off on a Sunday if everything is going well! It’s so lonely, hard sometimes I can be so resentful of him for some strange reason! I guess it stems from loneliness deep down xx

I’m a farmers wife, we are sheep farmers and it can be tough but being interested and involved in what he does helps with the loneliness!

@Emma ❤️: Fellow farmers wife here! Non farming family for me and he’s been farming his whole life. We don’t live on the farm but yeah, it’s long and lonely! We’ve been together 15 years and it still hits me like a brick at the beginning of every season 😅🙈 - we have 3 kids and feeling like a single parent is hard, especially because no one around you really gets it, they feel like he has a choice about being here or not 🥴 … We’re all going to help Daddy sheet the clamp this morning and it finally feels like the silly season is ending 🤞🏼🤞🏼 xx

Grew up on a dairy farm, that was 24/7 hard work. Engaged to an organic tillage farmer & it’s a walk in the park in comparison!

Married to a farmer and live in farm, we have one son with cerebral palsy so I’m not currently working, one thing we do that works for us is if there’s a random week day that he’s not got as much on we will treat that like a weekend day and spend some time together otherwise I only see him when he gets fed in the evening 🙈

Hi, I’m glad things are setting for your husband. Unfortunately it’s not the case on our farm, my husband and the rest of his family, work 7 days a week, every week. It’s 365 days a year.

11 years in first year married and first year of my husband not working on the family dairy farm ( unfortunately had to sell our cows due to being kicked off our tented farm) still have smaller family farm but he now works between there and somewhere else and this year has been the hardest year yet for me. I’m used to just been able to go and see him whenever and knowing where to go etc to not being able to go all the time and trying to find all these new places. Feeling like I’ve lost my purpose as he dosent need my help anymore and feeling like a lost part. It’s been a hard busy summer.

I am currently watching my daughter-in-law to be, struggle massively with this with my son. He feels a massive amount of pressure to be the main wage earner and make it work, but also be supportive to her 😭 they have a 2 year old and another due on Boxing Day. I can see it from both sides, but no idea how to help either of them 🥴 it’s taken me a long time to come to terms with almost being that single parent for 6 months of the year - I agree - there defo needs to be a community as I am positive we aren’t the only ones!
