This week I mentored the kiddos at @livinginthenaau, a nature camp for Keiki ages 4-11yrs old 🌿✨Nā’au in Hawaiian refers to heart, mind, and intuition. (I love that the title plays on the concept “living in the now” since nāʻau is pronounced nah-ow) Mariah has been hosting these incredible nature camps for kiddos for years and has put her whole heart into the programs. The camp is immersive and educational, and allows kids to learn valuable tools and build deeper relationships with the natural world. It’s an opportunity for kids to get away from their screens and just be young, wild, and free. As a naturalist guide at the @konacloudforestsanctuary, I’ve always heard the laughter from base camp echoing in the distance through the forest while I’m on my tours… but this week I got to witness and experience the fun first hand. I was reminded how joyful and freeing play can be as an adult. It was a day of nonstop laughter and giggles with the little ones🥹🫶 I spent the day crawling over logs, hiding under trees, building forts, getting muddy, playing games and maybe being a little too competitive, but loving every second of being in the forest with the keiki.
