Google maps does work in Korea. The only part that doesn't work is the walking directions. I use it all the time for subway and bus directions as it is more accurate than Naver.

I prefer the maps in Korea honestly. Compared to how Google and Apple Maps work even in the USA, Kakao maps and NAVER map in Korea is so much better.

there’s a photographer i follow who documents buildings and landmarks in north korea who talked about how all of the google maps locations he posted with his photos got deleted and i think about that a lot 😞

i will say google maps has better populated korea now, just not as well as naver. but the point is still absolutely relevant, the military conscription point especially!!!!

Google Maps does actually work in SK, it just doesn't have as many features as outside SK but most things work

see I downloaded all the other apps and was ready but like, I still used Google maps and had zero problems, it was just because it's what I'm used to 🤷♀️maybe it's because I stayed in the middle of seoul, but Google maps still worked fine.
