almost everybody that says "zayn could've/should've/would've been bigger" never listens to Zayn's music. that's cuz most ppl don't LIKE his music. Lack of promotion plays a very small factor in why Zayn isn't big. he's had hits before. they know EXACTLY who he is but ppl got bored of him 😭 once that "i left a big boyband" clout died down, ppl no longer CARED. even the little promo he does now, they still just don't care. he had one small window to make some big moves for his career and he missed it. they've now lost all interest in him and the only time he rlly gets attention is when he mentions 1D: cuz that's all they actually cared about. not him OR his music. they liked the drama AROUND him, not him as an artist. zayn didn't have what it took to be a star of harry's caliber. ppl smelled it and left him where he was. also, zayns just as boring as y'all claim harry is. harry absolutely had things easier cuz he was white, HOWEVER he's also just smarter (industry wise) . if him being white was the sole factor in why he's more successful, the other boys of One Direction would've done better in the long run. It was always gonna come down to Harry or Zayn and in Zayn's own words "Harry is the perfect popstar". thank you for coming to my TED talk.

zayn, naturally, is the most skilled vocalist of one direction. zayn does not have the stage presence / performance quality as harry on or off stage. it is just a fact that harry is a natural born popstar. that being said if zayn had been interested in being a contender of a pop prince like harry he absolutely could have been especially with leaving a year early. I think what you're forgetting is when zayn left the demand for a solo pop guy was absolutely there and if zayn wanted to play that part he could of. but he has absolutely no interest in being anything other than an artist and a father. there is nothing wrong with that!

Idk Zayn has hits pillow talk and dusk till Dawn are huge mainstream pop songs so he definitely could’ve been that if he did more classic promotion and touring

The people calling Zayn “lazy” are ridiculous. I like harry styles but zayn isn’t lazy because he CHOOSES to not conform to the pop boy stereotype that’s constantly been thrown in his face since 1D. He’s a creative who values his music over the fame and there is nothing wrong with that.

you need to go back and rewatch early one direction. zayn wasnt quiet - zayn was loud. he got quieter and quieter as one d went on. we can speculate as to why (racism etc). but even Liam said at one point that people think zayn is quiet but he's loud. it doesn't help that their marketing plan for him was mysterious
