@lynda.leads: Let’s talk about high performers at work—they’re not difficult, they’re demanding excellence. Here’s why strong employees challenge weak leadership and what great managers do to earn their respect. Learn how to lead high-performing teams, handle feedback, and build real accountability at work. #lyndasays
You risk being labeled as combative and argumentative. (Happened to me.) As a high performer, have your priorities in order. If you’re there to pay your bills, you’ll have to let off the gas, collect the 💰 and pour your high standard efforts elsewhere. In the wrong environment, going above and beyond makes people around you uncomfortable and leaves you vulnerable. Don’t be the nail that sticks out and gets hammered.

Sassy….Kim :
I literally stopped being a high performer. I stopped calling out problems, stopped asking for clarity and stopped going above and beyond. I finally realized I was only exhausting myself and was never going to effect change

And what's their reward? Leaders don't care. As a high performer approaching the end of my career I can tell you it's not worth being difficult. They want yes people. Stop acting like it's your company and that you're indispensable. Most likely they managed before you and will be just fine without you. That's why managers don't care, there's plenty more people willing to die on the high performer hill. Wake up!

high performers are the ones that are gas lighted. I lost respect for any leader that gas lights and feeds into high school games of low standard employees

Corporate environments want complacency, not disagreeability.
Don't believe me? Look who they promote to Management; yes People.... not those that question the status quo.

Just bc you are a high performer doesn’t mean that you’re always right. Some high performers think they can override their boss.

When you are a high performer, you are begrudged. When you slack off a bit, you are begrudged. I can't win!!

I no longer speak up. I've lost too many jobs for doing that. I will continue being me and continue our performing and deal with it until I can't any longer and then move on.
