@pleasedontquizme: Diane Keaton (1946-2025) In 1968 Diane Keaton started her career on Broadway in the original production of Hair. The next year she was nominated for a Tony Award for Play It Again Sam. Her first major movie role was playing Kay Adams-Corleone in one of the greatest movies of all time, Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather. In 1977 she won an Academy Award for her performance in Annie Hall. She went on to star in Looking for Mr Goodbar (1977), Reds (1981) and Crimes of the Heart (1986). In the 80s & 90s Keaton delivered a string of hit comedies including Baby Boom (1987), Father of the Bride (1991) and The First Wives Club (1996). She earned her third Academy Award nomination appearing opposite Meryl Streep & Leonardo DiCapro in Marvin’s Room (1996). Keaton teamed up with Nancy Meyers & Jack Nicholson for Something’s Gotta Give (2003). She starred in the instant holiday classic The Family Stone (2005) and reunited with Rachel McAdams in Morning Glory (2010). Recently Keaton appeared opposite Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen & Mary Steenburgen in the Book Club films. She was honored with the Film Society of Lincoln Center Galaxy Tribute in 2007 and an AFI Life Achievement Award in 2017.
This scene has always made me cry. It’s even more poignant now that she’s gone.
