@alexsfoodieadventures: Melitta Next Door, Carlton Melitta Next Door is the laid-back little sister to Bar Bellamy, tucked along Rathdowne Street in Carlton. It’s got that easy, Mediterranean by the sea feel. Think smoky skewers, flatbreads fresh off the grill and plates made for sharing. The vibe is casual but cool with pre-batched cocktails with martinis starting at $16, affordable plates and a walk-in only policy. The kitchen is led by Sicilian-born Chef Lorena Corso, who began her career cooking across London before moving to Melbourne, where she refined her craft at Estelle in Northcote under Scott Pickett, Anchovy in Richmond and Napier Quarter in Fitzroy. Here’s an overview of what we tried: 🍞 Flatbread, whipped onion butter: the best flatbread I have eaten anywhere in Melbourne! 5/5 ❤️‍🔥 Lamb arrosticini, salsa verde: simple & cheap 🤝🏼 Ox tongue, honey sesame cumquat glaze: not my favourite ox tongue skewer, needed more flavour/glazing 🐟 Harissa market fish, red pepper and capers salsa: juicy, fresh, my fave skewer of them all! The salsa was perfect 🍛 Slow cooked Meredith Dairy goat stew: full of umami, super tender, will be dreaming about this 5/5 💖 Caramelised custard, shiitake, tangelo granita: not too sweet, an interesting combination, not my type of dessert but my partner loved Honestly I will be back just for that flatbread, stew & a few martinis.
