@medinaurfinancialadviser: Putting your home in a Trust won’t protect it from Inheritance Tax if you still live in it. (Unless you pay full market rent to the trust) If you benefit from the property, it’s classed as a Gift with Reservation meaning Inheritance Tax still applies. What a Trust can do is protect the property from divorce or family disputes, ensuring it passes to your children or loved ones as intended. If it’s your main home, Inheritance Tax still counts. If it’s not, a Trust ‘might’ make sense when your situation has been assessed. Disclaimer: This post is for information purposes only and is not personal financial advice. so a trust is designed to help the rich not pay tax on properties they don't live in cause they have so many. gotcha. this needs to change

This is too much. You managed to buy a property, and you managed to give yourself the expense of putting it into a trust. To make it worthwhile for your kids, you now can't live in it if you want to avoid inheritance tax. Where do you live? Does that mean you rent a property to live in when you're retired? Six for one half dozen the other. Those with the means are able to make it right for their kids. I guess some of us will have to take the tax hit.🥰
