Thank you! People acting like she’s trying to impersonate a POC because it’s “Spanish” when it’s really just a white woman with European ancestry pretending to be a different type of white woman with European ancestry. Weird for sure but ultimately harmless.

My unpopular opinion is that she doesn’t bother me lol. Ultimately she’s a white American pretending to be a white European. It’s not that serious. 😂 She speaks fluent non-native Spanish, lived there, and has family ties there (even though they’re not native). It’s definitely disingenuous but it’s not exactly harmful.

Oh, she definitely pretended to be a woman of color. She darkened her hair, used spray tans to look more Latina, appeared on the cover of Latina and Hola magazines which are both directed at Latin American audiences, posted online about being mistaken for her kids’ nanny when she spoke Spanish in public with them, and of course made people believe that she was an ESL speaker when she interacted with them in Spanish-accented English that does not advertise itself as European Castilian as opposed to Latin American Spanish.
