The behavior shown in a video involving an Aldi employee named Samantha who works at Rosemount Aldi in MN is deeply concerning. A Black man shopping for Instacart was falsely accused of stealing, physically blocked from moving through the store, followed despite expressing discomfort, and mischaracterized to police as “loud” and “causing a scene” rather than the truth of the situation. This is a clear example of racial profiling and the weaponization of law enforcement. Even more disturbing, when the man was later physically assaulted by another customer, staff failed to intervene or call police. Aldi needs to address this seriously, take accountability, and explain how it will prevent this kind of discrimination and failure to protect customers in the future. This is a systemic issue not a misunderstanding.
