Sam was so madly in love. I mean, even in the books. this wedding line was so unnecessary that sometimes it seems to me that Tolkien realized WHAT he wrote and decided to add it so the questions would disappear. or perhaps he wanted to show us from the very beginning that they loved each other, but for obvious reasons couldn't stay together. I know he was a Catholic but it doesn't change anything
