One lesson mythology teaches is to never love a god. In reality it can be said to think really hard about falling in love with someone so very different or from a different social background from you. Because if you are not equal in a relashinship this is what happens (well not actually turning into a sunflower but u get the point)

In Afghanistan we call sunflower 🌻 گل آفتاب پرست: The flower that worships the sun. Perhaps it’s not a Greek mythology rather a borrowed story from the land once Alexander lived in aka Afghanistan. Alexander lived in Balkh of Afghanistan for 5 years and married Rukhsana aka Roxanne and had a son together. So perhaps they heard the story and shared it with Europe and it became a Greek mythology rather than an Afghan story!
