30 years of recruiting if a candidate tells me they’re not looking, I thank them for their time and tell them my door is open if anything changes or you need my help. If they pull back and say well, what do you got? I’m thinking in my head why the games I don’t play games with people‘s livelihood nor gonna spend time with a person who’s not open to direct communication.

May be the best I will say to tweak it is to say “I am honestly not actively looking but I am open to knowing more about this role and if it is worthy giving a shot then I will happily do so for the right career move”….. every word I used their is deliberately and the but is to make light work of my inactivity in searching but letting him know I will take a chance on the right opportunity!!! This now takes me off that desperate category and make me desirable more putting the burden of performance more on him to convince me instead of the other way round . The best way to really pull this flex is when you are really legit with a good company and you have a stable Job and you may just entertain something like working from home because u already have a work from home job!!!
