@newastroupdates: 🚀 Fueling the giants of spaceflight, just how much power did it take to leave Earth? In this video, we break down the liftoff fuel capacity estimates for both the Apollo 11 Saturn V rocket and the Space Shuttle. 🌑 Apollo 11 (Saturn V): Over 2.8 million kg of propellant, with the mighty F-1 engines burning 12 tonnes of fuel every second. 🛰️ Space Shuttle: A staggering 2 million kg of propellant, with its Solid Rocket Boosters and main engines gulping fuel at a breathtaking rate. Both machines lit the skies with raw energy, one taking humanity to the Moon, the other building our future in orbit. But which one was the true king of liftoff power? ⚡ #nasa #apollo #space #rocket #engine
fun fact:
the entire 13 year Apollo program cost about as much as the us military spends in 2 months when converted to today's money

Just had a quick work out, I live in the uk so say average family uses £50 a week in fuel over 60 years that’s roughly £150000, that rocket used that by the time it did its roll and 5 seconds after, unbelievable 👍👍👍👍🚀🚀🚀
