@jmmcarter: I've not heard enough people talking about this book and they need to be. It's a YA Yoruba inspired fantasy with a really interesting magic system, multi-POVs, a fascinating history and a bit of politics. Due to the world building and length, it's definitely older YA as some of it is quite complicated to get your head around. I really enjoyed it and only didn't give it 5 stars as I felt like the pacing dipped a bit too much in places and parts could have been shortened or cut altogether.
