Too bad. That arrest stays on your record forever, screwing jobs, housing, and background checks. Meanwhile, the cop who just violated your rights? Zero consequences. No personal liability, no paycheck docked, no paid leave that’s really a vacation. Qualified immunity shields them while your life is wrecked. They literally get to play judge, jury, and executioner on the street, then tell you “take it up in court” like that fixes the trauma, the expense, and the permanent damage. This isn’t a mistake. It’s state-sanctioned extortion and false imprisonment dressed up as law enforcement. Until cops face real, personal consequences for illegal arrests, nothing changes. End qualified immunity. Make them pay when they cage the innocent.
