@worldofxtra: Who knew convenience stores and supermarkets in Japan use fake eggs? #fakeeggs 😭#conveniencestore #japan #tastetest #egg first video by @laurenthegreatwhiteshark
It’s probably a food safety thing. I can’t imagine an uncooked egg sitting out all day and it still being safe to eat

Its called kimipuchi and its made out of egg yolk, gelatin, and oil😭 So no matter how long you cook it, its not gonna harden... and its most likely due to food safety requirements bcs it could be a risk for food poisoning🤷🏻♀

it's egg yolk mixed with oil and gelatin,i think, so that it remains jammy and doesn't explode in the microwave

When I was in cooking competition in HS, I was told by a judge that leaving a raw egg for a while out of its shell can build bacteria that can be toxic. It makes sense they wouldn’t use real eggs in those bentos. Although, in culinary, we learned to make alternatives that looks like a real one. 😉

I needdd someone who works in food production in Japan to explain this to me (like exactly what ingredients and process they use to get it like that)
