@diemly.me: 👇 Learn more 📚 Born in Kobe, Japan, in 1963, he began racing in Europe in the late 1980s and worked his way up through junior categories before finally reaching Formula One in 1994. In 1995 he joined the small Footwork Arrows team, one of the least competitive outfits on the grid. He never scored a single championship point, but he became a cult figure for something no other Formula One driver has ever experienced. At the 1995 Monaco Grand Prix, his car caught fire during a practice session. Inoue jumped out to help marshals extinguish the flames. As he stood beside his smoking car, a Renault Clio safety car came around the corner and struck him at speed. He was thrown into the air but somehow avoided serious injury and was back in the paddock later that day. Three months later, at the Hungarian Grand Prix, disaster struck again. His car broke down during the race, and as he tried to push it off the circuit, the medical car, a Tatra 613, came speeding down pit lane and hit him once more. Miraculously, he survived that impact too. Inoue continued racing for the rest of the season but left Formula One at the end of 1995. Although his results never made headlines, his sense of humor and self-awareness turned him into an unlikely fan favorite. Years later he joked, “I am the only Formula One driver to be hit by a car twice. That is talent.” #TakiInoue #F1History #FormulaOne #RacingHistory #SportsLegends
