It's not good news at all. The government is overstepping. and if one of those poor people even owes $1 to the CRA it's gonna have so many penalties. It could be hundreds of dollars. and don't forget the late fee filing charges. it's just gonna make the poor more poor end in debt.

My friend is stay at home mom with 4 kids. Her husband hasn’t done his taxes the last 2 years. Therefore, she has not been receiving child tax credit for those 2 years. He has now abandoned her with no source of income. Now she’s on income assistance.

To be honest, it just doesn’t make sense for ppl to file their own tax in the modern days. It’s accepted when computer and databases wasn’t widely adapted. But nowadays, governments should have all your income information through businesses filing their tax and all revenue from bank investments.
