Stop Backing Up to Hit! 🚫🎾 Either you’re already behind the ball before it bounces, or you step in and take it on the rise — but backing up as you hit? That’s how you lose power, balance, and depth. If you choose to back up, you MUST beat the ball to the spot. That means getting set before it reaches you, so you can transfer your weight forward and stay balanced. Hitting while falling back usually means lifting the ball or hitting it short. 🎯 Ideally, you’re stepping in on most shots and only backing up when absolutely necessary. A couple key notes: ▪️ Your positioning should match your opponent’s level and shot quality — not just your habits. ▪️ 4.0+ players: 4–7 ft behind the baseline is a great default. ▪️ Lower levels: stay closer, since most opponents won’t hit heavy/deep consistently. ▪️ The test? If you’re constantly backing up or rushing forward, your positioning needs work. This is one of the main reasons players struggle with consistency — fix your positioning, and everything else starts to click! 👊 📍In Miami this summer? From June 10 – July 17, I’m opening up a few spots for serious players ready to level up.
