@pageandpurl: Use the sock patterns in your library to make a pair of matching fingerless gloves! **Thumb gusset:** -choose any 3 stitches where you want the thumb gusset and place markers on either end. (pm, k3, pm) -continue following sock pattern until you get to the 3 gusset stitches, when you get to stitches, you’ll do the following: row 1: K, M1L, K, M1R, K row 2-3: Knit -Repeat until you have 17-21 stitches between markers. -Place stitches on hold on a piece of waste yarn ‼️You’ll probably want to play with the number of stockinette rows on the thumb so that once you’re putting your gusset stitches on hold, you’re also starting a new color work motif. This ensures that you’ll be able do a full round of color work as you will cast back on those 3 stitches lost to the gusset. -FOR THE HAND, on the next round when you get to where the thumb gusset started, cast on 3 stitches using the backwards loop cast on. This will bridge the gap and replace the 3 stitches you started the gusset with. **once you’ve finished the hand** -move the stitches on hold from the waste yarn back to your needles. -pick up 5 stitches where you casted on 3 new stitches on the body of the hand, the 3 casted on stitches and one stitch on either side (this will help reduce the likelihood of a hole at the joins). -You should now have between 22-26 stitches on your needle. -Knit in the round until ~1.5cm from desired length (this was 8 rounds for me). -starts ribbing and continue for about 1.5cm, then bind off.
