What do you do when children get understandably irritated by you narrating everything they're doing and making assumptions about what they're thinking and feeling? I know child me would have found that incredibly annoying and it would put me off going or engaging in activities where adults did this. I can't be the only one!

I did play therapy as a kid and everything I did the lady would ask me why " why did you make a blue snake why not rainbow " it made me rage .

i would have looooved to play with you in the playroom when i was a child 🥹 curious though — how do you handle a client who becomes frustrated or angry about the tracking and reflective language? i would tell/ask adulation all the time why they were speaking to me that way! obviously outside of a clinical setting, i never had that privilege

When I was 8 I am certain that I was taken from class to have sessions like this. I have no idea why to this day but have memories of having one on one time with a lady that wasn’t a teacher. I’m estranged from my family and my mom disowned me so I can’t ask what was happening to cause the school to have these sessions with me. That whole part of my life is just blocked out.
