Mohair cinches are so underrated! The biomechanics behind why it’s an amazing cinch are not well known. Mohair is hygroscopic, so it can absorb about 30% of its weight in water and still feel dry and that open string structure allows sweat to evaporate versus a closed fiber cinch. Additionally, the pressure distribution physics make it almost impossible for a single pressure point to develop. The load is distributed across dozens of parallel strands instead of a single wide strip. Each strand can slide and adjust slightly, equalizing tension as the horse flexes or breathes. This eases tension on the lungs allowing for respiratory comfort. Sorry, I’m such a nerd.😂
