The marriage of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to Aisha (RA) was contracted when she was six years old, and the marriage was consummated when she was nine, as recorded in Sahih al-Bukhari. This was common and acceptable at that time among Arabs and other nations, as early marriage was widespread and based on physical and psychological maturity. Often, a contract would be signed while the girl remained with her family until she grew older. This was never viewed as strange or wrong. The Prophet (PBUH) treated Aisha with the utmost mercy and love; she was among the dearest people to him, lived a dignified and happy life, and later became one of the greatest scholars and most knowledgeable women of the Ummah. She never expressed any grievance; rather, she took pride in her status with him. Therefore, it is incorrect to judge past events by modern standards, as every era has its own customs and circumstances.
