@austinjamesjackson: There are numerous ways to sharpen your photography, and while most methods are effective, it feels like none are truly exceptional. Photoshop's High Pass filter is not typically what you think of when you're considering sharpening your photos. In fact, it isn't even listed among the other sharpening filters. But High Pass happens to be the BEST way to sharpen your photos in Photoshop. My favorite method is to set the Radius between 5-10 pixels, set the blend mode to Overlay, and then adjust the opacity slider to perfectly dial in the sharpness. For images with a central subject, such as wildlife or portraits, I'll oftentimes combine this layer with a layer mask, selecting only the subject to avoid increasing noise in the background.
