they used to weigh the salads at my middle school, so I ate a lot of bowls of croutons & fake bacon-bits for lunch to save money (weighed very little)

I don’t know what’s happening at this school but as a lunch lady the district I work in we make bento boxes. It’s a muffin, a cheese stick, fruit and a hard boiled egg. And they can grab a small side salad with it.
