Did mom do a background check on her neighbor Zachary & his wife prior to entrusting them to watch her daughter while she was working?! It’s a shame that mom had to work overnight in order to care for her kids as a single mother. I wonder if mom had any family or her parents nearby to help care for her kids when she was working?! When my 4 kids were little & I needed someone to watch them for a little while, the only people I ever trusted to be with & watch them was my mom who lived 8 houses down the street in the house I grew up in, my BFF since kindergarten & my neighbor’s daughter who was literally the BEST babysitter ever, was never on her phone & always on the floor playing with them. She was made to be a mom or have a career taking care of children & is now an elementary school teacher. Other than that, if one of the 3 weren’t available, I didn’t leave them with anyone else. My MIL lived 7/8 minutes away but was babysitting for my SIL’s 3 kids on a daily basis while their parents worked & as much as I love & respect my MIL, leaving an infant, a 16 month old & a 2 year old with my MIL while she was already overwhelmed with my 3 nieces who were a little older & always took all of my MIL’s attention was not an option. The one time I dropped the kids off at her house for a few hours so she could have all 6 of her grandkids together for the day, when I picked them up 4 hours later, they were all in diapers that were sagging & full of poop/pee. She was supposed busy with my nieces that my kids were too much for her to attend to. When she was visiting & offered to watch my kids for a few hours so I could run errands, I refused to leave them alone with her because she didn’t know how to swim & we have an in-ground pool. We couldn’t take the chance if she decided to let them go in the pool when she couldn’t swim. She was offended that we weren’t comfortable leaving her alone with them when the pool was open, but my husband, her son, was adamant that she respects our boundaries & reasons for not leaving her alone with our kids. My heart breaks for this mom.
