Can we clarify: white, straight (or straight presenting), high femme pop girl. Not so much attention for those who fall outside of that shape. Not disagreeing at all with the point being made here - but nuance is important here. One of my fave examples of this is the now defunct duo Nimmo - who should have gotten wayyyyyy more attention than they did, especially when they were active. There’s a good discussion to be had here about the historic importance of straight, white, female divas (Judy Garlad being the earliest example of this I can remember) as avatars for the cis, white, gay male experience, and how that traditional identification may or may not still have relevance.
