For those wondering, horsepower is not the driving force behind acceleration. It’s torque. Every electric vehicle has essentially instantaneous access to its full torque, unlike a combustion engine that needs to build up to peak torque. That’s why it picks up speed so quickly even with a “low” horsepower number.
