It’s filled with people who are good stage talkers.

Corporate America is where women, especially women of color, stay broke, get gaslit, and are trained to play small. It is not a system built for growth or truth. It is adults on a playground fighting over a scarce resource that none of us actually own. The billionaires own the swings. The rest of us are told to be grateful for the sandbox. We lie to ourselves, thinking we are building something real, when in truth we are just maintaining their illusion.

Just remind your clients: Companies say they want your best effort. They don’t. They want your best implementation of _their_ best effort.

I see issues that nobody is interested in resolving, make suggestions that are ignored, see people promoted who aren’t good at their jobs, and mechanisms above me that remain mysterious to me that are gatekept from me.

It's the lack of autonomy and the needing to fix their mistakes and work late when I already warned them and did it right the first time and was told to keep everything like last period and not make changes. I ended up seeing red I got so angry eventually and then quit.

they reward people who tell lies and make themselves seem like they're doing more than they actually do. people who tell the truth are punished and bullied

Unregulated capitalism at its finest. Shareholders are the most important. Humans are not.

If you’re an amazing politician you’ll soar in corporate America. Most of us are not, thus the problem.

As a laid off autistic, yes. I think it’s also demoralizing to have to work in corporate at all, attempting to solve superficial problems that only the most shallow among us care about, while the world is is coming apart at the seams, but most people can’t afford to focus on solving problems that actually matter.

Im so sick and tired of corporate. I used to be a high achiever but not anymore. We all still getting paid the same on my team and I’m doing the very bare minimum now. Just learn to be a good talker and know who to get buy in from and how to present your case. That’s all it is

The job of holding onto the job becomes unbearable once incompetant people start to sense that you could swim laps around them in their narrow little lanes.
