@fellasfinance: STOP using your debit card, instead use a credit card. 1. Credit cards will help you build your credit score. 2. Credit cards offer more protection than debit cards. 3. Credit cards allows you to collect reward points that can be spent on flights, hotels and shops. Not financial advice. #creditcards #PersonalFinance #LearnOnTikTok
Using a credit card gets you addicted to over spending 🙄

The credit card is a system that is designed to get people into debt And without debt you cannot get credit and the banking system controls the debt with how much interest you'll pay on that debt that is outstanding which can be very high unless you can settle that debt straight away

Does paying more back on the credit card improve the credit score more? eg if I have to pay back £100 a month on my credit card is that less effective than paying £500

Other countries don't have a credit score. zi have lived on a cash basis for 17 years in multiple countries on 3 continents, and it is wonderful to have no bills at the end of the mknth.

Nah this is the one thing I don't agree tbh, the risks of a credit card to me don't outweigh the postives. I understand making big purchases on one for protection but using it day to day is asking for trouble imo. Also the idea you need one for a decent credit score isn't true. I have a mortgage and have never had a credit card.

The credit score point is valid however I wholeheartedly disagree with using the credit card for every day spending, I did this, and I’ve got myself in financial trouble as a result because there isn’t an effective limit so it’s easy to overspend

Yep, my economics teacher at school told us to always use a credit card and always pay it off in full at the end of the month. Never pay for anything over £100 on anything other than a credit card. I've followed that rule for 30 yrs. Best bit of advice I got from any teacher.

Hmmm no. I used credit card for my every spending and it lowered my credit score due to “higher credit usage” then I only use it for certain purchase, my credit score increased.

If you inherited £50k and already have an emergency fund, what would you do with it to invest for the best return long term? Can and should it all be put into stocks and shares?

Credit cards can build your score but they can also destroy it if you slip even once. Banks want you using credit because that is how they profit through interest late fees and debt traps. I would rather live within my means stay debt free and use my own money with a debit card. Real freedom is not having a good credit score it is not owing anyone a penny.
