@fox9mn: For nearly 30 years, Cheryl Burt has lived with the pain of losing her two youngest sons. Her advocacy is why Minnesota is now giving 2,500 carbon monoxide detectors away to eight communities deemed at the most risk. In 2022, Sen. Amy Klobuchar sponsored a bill to give grants to states to give out free carbon monoxide detectors. Cheryl testified in Washington, D.C., to help get it passed. The grant program bears the names of the two sons she lost: The Nicholas and Zachary Burt Memorial Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Prevention Act. Through the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, the State Fire Marshal’s Office is now handing out 2,500 detectors in eight communities: Austin, Bemidji, Brainerd, Duluth, Red Wing, Rochester, Virginia and Willmar.

Decided to spend a $50 amazon gift card I’ve been sitting on to buy a 3 pack. I’m grateful for her reminder, and sorry for her pain.

you’re telling me people actually don’t have smoke/carbon monoxide detectors in their home? that should’ve been your first purchase when buying a home. there’s a reason it’s required by law! to prevent shit like this from happening!

Mine went off in my apt, evacuated & called 911 & fire dept said there were high levels & couldn’t determine the source after an hour of testing every appliance. They told me I couldn’t stay there. I immediately told my landlord I’d like to break my lease & she refused, I moved out anyways & she sent a debt collector after me. So messed up. I need help legally.

As an hvac technician you should all invest in a LOW LEVEL CO DETECTOR. Normal co detectors only detect 400ppm and up after 30 minutes which is not good . Low level picks up around 15ppm

Yup. We were raised to always have these, like fire alarms. They are old tech and a must-have, and they save lives.
