Stepmom of 8 years here and bio mom to 2 ours babies. After years I finally learned that my ONLY job as a step parent is to support my husband in his parenting journey and to support/encourage his relationship with my stepdaughter. That is it. I can be a positive/supportive person in my stepdaughters life but I am not the parent nor do I want to be. Ultimately, my bio children are my priority and I refuse to apologize to anyone for that.

Can’t go on family trips without my stepson, can’t take family pictures without my stepson, can’t open gifts on Christmas Day until he’s done at his moms house and finally comes to our home. Never appreciates anything I do for him or buy him, can’t get a genuine “thank you”. It definitely is not easy being a stepmom.
