When we were in the midst of raising hogs we would still “slop the hogs”! My dad grew up on a 60+ sow farm and they had a butcher shop; he kept up with the older generations ways and we still now have a butcher shop❤ this brings back so many memories! They still use casings like that to this day! (Normally Amish or homesteaders)

My grandma just turned 101 in September. I wonder if they would have similar stories. I do know with age my grandma has discussed losing all her friends too. Meeting someone around the same age would probably be so cool. 😎 idk I guess I’d enjoy it. That women is my idol!

Cured meat equals it ‘stays’ longer. It takes way more time for cured meat to expire than say the beef from the cow, since ghe beef wasn’t cured.
