I have not and will not download the Sora app. Sora 2 is quick to point out that they do have safety measures in place. As we’ve seen on Roblox, these guardrails have already been breached in significant ways. (Sora 2 has been out for just 2 weeks.) This pattern of “launch first, fix later” isn’t unique to Sora, but does raise concern about how quickly competing platforms will appear, potentially with fewer safeguards. Experts are warning of a rise in sexploitation and CSAM (child sexual abuse material), bullying and harassing, misinformation, reputational harm, and the complete erosion of trust in authentic content. Definitely valid concerns, but as a society we're going to have to figure out a way through it. It's only a matter of time before the technology is in our primary feeds as well. It's just the next iteration of your digital footprint. Gen Z had to deal with Finsta accounts. I'm confident we'll strike a balance, but I'm also not a public figure.
