A peer-reviewed study published in Springer Nature found that flour bleaching agents degrade vitamins E and A, generate carcinogenic free radicals, and leave residues linked to liver damage, chronic inflammation, and tumour-promoting effects. The EU banned every single one of these chemicals from flour in the 1990s. The UK banned chlorinated flour. China banned benzoyl peroxide. European bakeries achieve the same white flour through natural aging and improved milling — no chemicals required. They proved it's unnecessary.
